Prvo jutro po dramatičnem startu za ekipo Adria4ocean je prinesel nemalo dobre volje ob pogledu na semafor: Kristian je v vodilni skupini, trenutno na 4. mestu! Sicer je še prezgodaj za odpiranje šampanjcev, saj je prvih dvajset tesno skupaj v radiu 10 milj, celotna flota pa v tridesetih, vendar je to vseeno spodbudna novica za naše ranjene navijaške strasti… Tudi Andraž je očitno špreživel prvo noč in je trenutno na repu flote na 84 mestu s 25 miljami zaostanka! Dajmo naši!!!

V nadaljevanju Juretov povzetek dogajanja na startu včeraj in fotografije s kraja nesreče, ki mi jih je poslal Marek Galkiewicz - Goly. Goly, zdaj lahko z gotovostjo trdimo, da si neprecenljiv ne samo za poljsko ekipo Allianz (katere skipper Jaroslaw Kaczorowski je trenutno na odličnem petem mestu), temveč tudi za ekipo Adria4ocean. Hvala za fotografije in kar je še pomembneje, hvala za pomoč Andražu na startu!

»Priznati moram, da je bil nivo stresa na današnji dan čez vsakršno mero dobrega okusa. Pričelo se je že zgodaj zjutraj, ko se  je „klubski“ tiskalnik odločil odpovedati poslušnost. Potem pregled zadnjih vremenskih napovedi, pa tek v marino, še zadnji sestanek s fanti, „medvedji objem“, …, in ko se je že zdelo, da gremo lahko nazaj v marino na zasluženo pivo, je počilo. Sledilo je nekaj težkih minut, potem pa Andraževa odločitev: potegnite me nazaj, gremo popravit škodo, potem pa za ostalimi. Od tam naprej se je vse dogajalo še hitreje in on 16:30 je Andraž odrinil naprej. Luknja je bila zakrpana, epoksi sicer še ne čisto strjen, vendar se je Andražu mudilo naprej in kmalu je bil le še drobna osamljena pikica na obzorju.

V naslednjih dneh bo zelo zanimivo gledati, kam se bodo miniji usmerili. Danes se je večina usmerila proti Kanarskim otokom, Kristian (in kasneje tudi Andraž) pa ostaja na zahodni strani flote. Ponoči bo veter predvidoma obračall proti severozahodu in kasneje severu, vzhodni del flote pa naj bi ostal v področju brezvetrja. Jutri se bo od severozahoda počasi krepil severovzhodnik, že spet bi moralo biti vetra več na zahodni strani. Poleg tega bo prehod skozi Kanarsko otočje zaradi smeri vetra sorazmerno težaven, samega vetra pa bo na vzhodni strani veliko. Zahodna varianta omogoča na zadnjem delu poti proti Zelenortskim otokom, ko bo veter slabel, boljši kot.

Verjetno sta obe varianti, vzhodna in zahodna precej enakovredni, na koncu pa bodo odločale malenkosti, ki jih danes težko predvidimo.«

The morning after the dramatical start of leg two of the Transat brought joy back to the faces of team Adria4ocean: Kristian is in forth position! It’s still to soon to crack open the champagne, as the first 20 are in a radius of 10 miles and the entire fleet in 30 miles, but still this is something that our wounded cheerleading spirit needed most of al at this moment… Andraž seems to have survived the first night and is currently 84 with a 25 miles gap on the leaders. You go guys! 

Here under is Jure’s summary of the events yesterday and some photos that Marek galkiewicz Goly sent me. Goly, you are now as indispensable for team Adria4ocean as you are for Polish team Allianz (skipper Jaroslaw Kaczorowski is currently 5th). Thanks for the photos and what’s more thanks for all your help to Andraž yesterday!

»I must admit todays level of stress was completely walking the line. It all began early in the morning when the »team« printer decided to quit on me. Then looking at the latest gribs, running to the marina, last meteo briefing with the guys , a bear hug… and when it looked as though we can safley go back to the marina and have a well deserved beer… it cracked. A few minutes of silence and some rough moments later came Andraž’s decision: take me back to the marina and let’s fix the damage. from then on thing were developing with the speed of light And Andraž left the marina at 16.30 local time. The hole was patched, the epoksi not yet completely dried out, but Andraž was in a hurry and soon he was but a dot on a horizon.

It will be interesting to watch where the minis will head in the next few days. The majoriti of the fleet headed towards the Canary Islands, Kristian (and later Andraž) is on the west side of the fleet. The wind will turn to NE and than to N, the eastern part of the fleet will have a lot less wind. Tomorrow the NE will build up and again there will be more wind in the west. There is a difficult passage of the Canary Islands ahead of the fleet because of the wind direction, but there will be a lot of it in the east. The western option allows a better angle near the Cap Verdes where the wind will weaken. 

Probably both options the eastern and the western are equal and in the end it will come down to details that are impossible to predic at the moment«.
